Nerds Unite! <!--ageless-->

oh, the insanity

phew.

I've actually attempted work on Shutter Release, finally adding the Black and White Gallery. Its a little lazy and half the time I bullshitted my way through the write-ups, but it'll do.

Also, if you get there from here, there are no links leading back to Solardragon. And now that that's finished, only a gajillion more galleries to make. IGH.

Oh my God...

Its Michael Jackson!

I'm just doing some unrealistic shopping... I just finished 'The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon' by Stephen King (just ignore that 'Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius' bit below this entry.. while a good book I stopped a quarter way through and lent it to Sarah.) Anyway, TGWLTG was most excellent, I read it in about two hours and am well on my way to out and out contemplation of reading any and all of Stephen King's books... (*as amazingly enough, I've never really fully read any until today).

*Stephen King books, that is. Not books in general.

To reiterate, and yes, sum up:

Boredom does strange things to those with a zen for linking: (And here I go, posting again...)

A mate of mine was whacking a nail into a bit of wood the other day, and he accidentally whacked his thumb with the hammer instead of the nail, and he shouted "Oh Tom Hanks!" --Rob Macdermid

Almost forgot to mention:

I made an archive for the DragonCam -- its basically a mismatched collection of several of the cam images that have shown up at Solardragon within the past year or so. (I guess Solardragon isn't quite a year old -- Marshmallow Coffee made it about -- 6 months? And Internerdia was around for a year.. I think..)

Also, I half-seriously started a comic archive -- mostly links to comics I like. It'll probably never be updated again -- boredom does funny things to those who have HTML knowledge and a zen for linking..

Midnight Margaritas

I'm not sure if I posted this before -- while I'm sure that all of you at one point or another have heard my praising rants of both Practical Magic and *The Coconut Song by Harry Nillson I did find a site on the internet that has the recipe for Midnight Margaritas. (My favourite scene from the movie being when they all go downstairs to consume large amounts of liquor then start insulting each other. Just like Christmas.)

* While the site I've linked in reference to the Coconut Song by Harry Nillson doesn't necessarily have much to do with the actual song, I thought the resort was pretty nice and would some day like to stowaway in a luggage compartment, land with the others, and then sneak my way in with the throng of fellow travellers, perhaps spending my dream vacation in the cramped, fum-y janitor's closet. My one complaint? The floral print. Not even Martha Stewart would regurgitate those eyesores.

And,

Don't Rob A Bank Alone, Yet
Your Score: 35

While not in the criminal genius stakes yet, you have the makings of a master criminal.

Buy a How To Rob Banks t-shirt, and you'll be able to wave a shotgun under the nose of a bank teller within the hour.

I hate phones. A lot.

The phone has been ringing off the hook since 9:00 a.m. this morning. IT HAS NOT CEASED. I'm not sure who's really trying to get a hold of me -- my nanny's nursing home phoned once, about the myriad tests and bloodwork they want to perform on her, but this followed by a seemingly gajillion --- ergh. There it went again. I feel like I'm being stalked by my phone.

I think I'm going to destroy all phones and relocate to an isolated african village.

En garde, static cling!

My God, but this sweater has some static cling. If I wanted to look like the Clown from It I'd have simply joined a satanic circus. (Do you think such things exist? As in.. "Here's Elmer, the Wonderful Evil Elephant.. watch how he tramples circus patrons half to death"?) Or, maybe would a satanic circus be more like the satanist cults on A & E? As in, "Here's Lucifer the Dark Circus Overlord. On Saturdays he volunteers at the nursing home and enjoys gardening and collecting bottle caps, as well as conversing with Satan."

Sidetracked. Easily.

I actually watched 'It' last night. Much less scary then I remember. I'm in the middle of the book, actually. (Among several other books I'm midway through. =insert generic word of disinterest=) The book is much better. Less... 1985 horror movie using state of the art effects that look rather silly now.

I have to go to an appointment -- change my courses around this semester. I'm nearly completely against entrepeneurship. I'm more of an "easy course" person. Like, hooray for cooking class(!) -- only, for the most part, the teachers running those courses are much less then standable. (read: insanity. everywhere.)

I have an art presentation today too -- meaning I must get rid of both this hair and this ghastly static cling. At any rate, I'm showing my five projects:

1) Series of 3 black and white photos in long white frame.
2) Fort William: Past and Present (Architecture photos of buildings in Fort William, including the most anal attention to detail I've ever paid in terms of the most boring research ever. Or not boring. Long, expensive and utterly annoying to all librarians everywhere.)
3) Poetry Book. Basically my half-assed example of poetry and photographic expression related to it. I destroyed my house doing collage work with this one. Cut up magazines everywhere. My house looked very Jack Nicholson in "Batman" with a touch of the ever-present 1980 trailer look.
4) 24 Hours. My day in 24 hours. Bad pictures of me and others abound. I'm presenting the pictures in these archival photo albums -- if I had a picture I'd show you guys.. I'm putting said albums into a box (originally thinking I could add the myriad items I'd looted from the coffee shops and restaurants we'd visited along the way. However, on second thought, I realized that fourteen sugar packets would simply make me look deprived and weird.)
5) Photographic Essays. In basic terms, the photos I've never really gotten around to posting on this site -- I'm presenting them in a magnetic photo album with some articles, etc.

Besides all this I have to find some time to meet with my Writer's Craft teacher.. Oh, and go to debating. Blah. Would it be so very wrong to sleep?

Burning things.

Like cds. Don't worry.

I'm totally screwed in terms of school schedules -- I'll probably end up HAVING to take entrepeneurship even though I don't want to be an entrepeneur. I'd rather be a sewage consultant.

By the way, who really ever has that as their life's goal?

"Oh, I dunno. I was thinking about going into SEWER WORK."

I am most probably going to be taking "film studies".. seeing how film affects society, blah, blah, blah.

I've been fairly bored and incoherent all day, but I did make up a quiz which you can all peruse and then use to harshly mock my life.

How well do you know Sarah?

I'm just going to go to Mexico until its over.

Today has been one of those jumbled up days. Those days that suck, yet have faint gleams of redemption underneath the pile of absolute... suckiness. Its been a grey day. I've worn my pajamas for the entirety of it, kept my hair in a ponytail, no makeup, looking like Jenny Jones before surgery and carrying a giant teddy bear around with me for comfort. Its been one of those days when comfort is needed in any and all of its fuzzy, giant forms.

We got a phone call this afternoon that my grandmother is really sick.. my mom went to the hospital while I stayed home worrying and answering calls of concern -- she's 85, has Alzheimer's, and was near-death at the exact same time last year. She's managed to hold on for another year -- but now we think she may be bleeding internally.

I don't want to write anything too personal. I don't want to delve deep into my feelings about this. I don't want to analyze it and cry. I'd rather phone up my friends and hold my bear and stare numbly at the television. I'll be thinking of it constantly as I try to get it out of my mind.

Would it be so bad if she died? I'd be upset. I'd miss her. But she'd be happier. She'd be reunited with all the gaps and holes she's been missing, all the memories she's forgotten, all the moments she's lost in this life. Perhaps, on the other side, she'll remember everything and be at peace.

At any rate, Sarah came over and we consumed -- no, devoured, a chocolate cake. And I'm sure that reaction has no roots in some deeply-buried emotional complex at all. Nope. Not at all.

Finito.

I didn't make it. Quarter to five, zoned out, doing an Anne Heche impression and speaking in my space language I went to bed. I just put a bridge in the project notes and explained that I was sleeping. Or abducted. Or driving to Mexico in a stolen vehicle, a bowler hat and a martini.

That's right. Despite the actual slumber, I'm still DEAD TIRED. And basically INCOHERENT.

So, I leave you all with this group picture I snapped yesterday at hour... well, it was 5:something.

"Quick! Put the chinchillas under your coat!"

No one will notice...

Things are going good.. we're making some pasta... actual people are making pasta. Not mannequins I dressed in clothing to look like people hanging out with me. No, not at all.

We went to Super Pet, Chapters, uhhhhm, some schools.. Coney Island.. I'll post the pictures upon development and scanning. I think people are about ready to attack me with noodles though, soooo...

More later. Avoid all quaint craft stores. That is all.

24 Hours. Yeah.

So, this is my goal: 24 hours. Awake, with my camera, and without attacking people either. I had the idea a few months ago, to y'know, stay up a complete 24 hours and take 1 - 2 pictures per hour, but the idea never seemed to actually blossom into.. fruition.

But, today is the day.

Me. 24 hours. Every hour on the hour.

Some people are going to "drop by" as it were, too. Y'know. To show my that my life is just one big exciting conga line o' fun.

I'm actually going out too -- y'know, so that its not all pictures of me watching movies. Because its early (for me), and my brain..not..to..work, here is a former example of explanations I've given to others:

If people don't come:

Hour 11: Here's me watching Star Trek.
Hour 15: I'm still watching Star Trek.
Hour 20: Its a Murder She Wrote Marathon, and my camera's invited!
Hour 24: Here I am talking to a volleyball, stroking it lovingly and calling it Wilson. Right.

If people do come:

Hour 11: Here we are watching Star Trek, and look, someone brought chip dip and Tostitos.

So, you can obviously see the difference.

But, alas, I must vaccuum. Wouldn't want that instant camera to reveal the dustballs the size of Kansas on the rec room floor.

They're alive... ALIVE...

It all starts at 12:00 noon...
